What is Teacher Talk?
To help introduce Teacher Talk, we asked those involved in the creation of this
unique publication to share what they felt
Teacher Talk is. Here are their responses:
- Teacher Talk shares important ideas with important people so
that we all can have a greater impact with teens.
- Laura Versaci,
English teacher, Decatur middle School
- It is for students learning to be teachers who want to continue to
learn.
- Kelly Short, preservice teacher
- In Teacher Talk we hope you find: stimulating ideas for
creative teaching, ways to understand the needs of adolescents, and
practical tips on how to use a variety of techniques in your
classroom.
- Kris Bosworth, Director of the Center for Adolescent Studies
- Teacher Talk addresses the interests and concerns of
preservice teacers, who have many questions about teaching,
student teaching, and classroom management. Through interviews with
teachers and professors, as well as interaction from our readers,we
will be able to discuss the exciting and innovative ideas in
teaching.
- Lisa Balka, preservice teacher
- A vehicle all preservice teachers can board to broaden our knowledge,
experience and wisdom to become the best and most effective teachers we
can be.
- Jane Elliot, preservice teacher
- Teacher Talk - finally a no-nonsense publication for preservice
teachers!
- Jeff Warrick, student teaching math and computer science at
Bloomington H.S. South
- An avenue for me to read a variety of opinions about questions that are
important.
- Julie James, Social Studies teacher, Harmony School, Bloomington,IN
- To inform readers on the numerous issues on education.
- Marie Waxton, preservice teacher
- Teacher Talk is a bridge of communication that spans the
gorge between student and teacher; for those of us standing on the precipice
of preservice teaching, it is a way to connect with professional teachers
standing on the distant cliffs of real world education.
- Kevin McNulty,
preservice teacher
For Your Information:
With much hoopla, the first issue of Teacher Talk was distributed to
Indiana University education students. It is apparently the first publication
in the nation devoted specifically to the needs of beginning secondary teachers.
